The second edition of the International Nature Image Festival (FIIN), an initiative co-financed by the NORTE 2020 Program and organized by the Municipality of Vila Real, is officially inaugurated. The partners include the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro, Zona Livre. For the first time it counts also with the support of QUERCUS who will contribute for the Jury.
The subject of the present Festival is the same as the one of the previous year – the biodiversity. Again, through the image, we intend to promote the natural wild life of the world and with that, to sensitize all society for the importance of conservation and care of this heritage, fundamental for the survival of the Planet.
In 2017 the festival was a great success, both by the evaluation of the partner entities evolved, and also by the various competitors and speakers. For this reason, the Municipality decided to prepare an exposition that will start on March 20, with the most beautiful images and shorts that were in the contest, in a project that is designated as “FIIN 2017 Goes to the Parishes”, This exhibition will cover all the Parishes adhering to the initiative and will bring the subject of Biodiversity closer to the populations.
FIIN 2018 will present some new features. The first one is the anticipation of the schedule with the beginning at November 9 until November 18. Also, the schedule of the three contests (short film contest, biodiversity photo contest and biodiversity design contest) will be different and this year they will start on March 1 to June 30th.
According to the great interest of the last festival, it was assumed that it should be expand to the other countries and for that reason, this edition will accept works originating from any region of the world. Also under the photography contest, the “Carvalho Araújo Prize” will launch, a special award to the best competitor photography.
From the selection and classification of the images presented to the Photography and Drawing contests will result two Expositions and their respective Catalogues. The Organizing Committee provides the following e-mail address (concursos@fiin.pt) for information on the competition.
